The Two Hymns!
I noted these lines from a hymn - “I Need Thee Every Hour” and from another hymn “The Holy Spirit Alone" while in church last Sunday.....
“I Need Thee Every Hour”
…..and bind thy gospel to thy heart……
,,,,,,temptations lose their power when thou are near…..
,,,,,I need thee ever hour…..
“The Holy Spirit Alone”
……His power along can sanctify and keep us pure within….
……His power alone within our soul can light the sacred fire…..
……And while we wait, O Spirit, come in sanctifying power.
The Importance of the Heart!
It is in the heart where the Gospel of Christ needs to settle, percolate, and continuously transform and subjugate the wickedness or the sin nature which resides in our heart area. In other words, this area is where lifelong spiritual sanctification (cleansing and separation from the world) as well as spiritual revelation can occur to foster His wisdom and knowledge to direct our lives.
There is no eradication of the sin nature. But when the Word of God is planted in the heart by daily study and application, it can diminish its controlling state over the individual. So, let it be said that the greater the presence and depth of the gospel in the heart the greater the cleansing of the heart from sin and transgression which can influence the renewing of the mind to conform to the Word of God leading to a daily fresh anointing and revelation of His Word and Ways (Romans 12:2).
The Word of God!
Thus, temptation loses its power when Christ (Word) is near (in the heart). So the hymn writer knows that he needs Christ (Word) every hour his sanctification is taking place for Christ (Word) is percolating and transforming the heart to be more like the Master. This is the Master's calling to yield and surrender the whole heart to Him.
It is amazing but singing the second hymn how the verses spoke to my heart and how they begin to form what you are reading in this oracle. Note the keys words in both hymns such as heart, power, Holy Spirit, sanctify, pure, light, fire, and sanctifying power. O my, the writers of these two hymns were anointed by Lord to write these hymns and share with us.
The Centrality of the Heart!
The heart is the centrality of the person. It is in the heart where character of the person is formed. It is in the heart where relationship with Jesus is developed and matured. It is in the heart where faith is sowed. It is in the heart where compassion is planted by Christ. It is in the heart where the Word of God is nourished by prayer, praise, and worshipped. It is in the heart where the destiny of the person is determined.
Therefore, the Lord is most concerned about the condition of the heart because it is the primary governing force in the life of the individual. The Holy Spirit is saying to me….
The Word in your heart,
brings forth
My power
for you to
overcome the temptations
which attempt to pull you
away from Me.
My power
operates through the Word
deep within you
which
sanctifies
and
keeps you pure from sin
as the hymn writer penned.
My power
works through the Word
to
bring you the Light of Christ
to take to those you are called
to release His Light upon their souls.
When you release the Light
you are releasing
the Word
and
when you release
the Word
you will release the
My fire that the Word
has birthed in you.
Let My Word set you on fire
for what I am showing you
and
what is to come.
Release the things
which
attempt to divide your heart
and
cause you to question
My calling to you.
There is a shift in your calling
which I am going
to bring to you.
But know that this shift is
moving you into greater areas
of responsibility
in My Kingdom.
But it will require a much greater
heart commitment and sacrifice
I will be doing in your life.
The word ended here.
Thank You Jesus for these hymns and Your Word for truly they reflect Your call to yield my whole heart to Your moving in me by the power of the Holy Spirit. O Jesus, I want to know You more and more each passing day. Set my heart on fire and keep it on fire bringing light and truth to me and those I interact with on a daily basis. So be it, Lord Jesus.
