A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
We are surrounded by many voices. The great majority of which represent godless voices. Yet these godless voices speak from positions of authority and truly believe they have the moral and ethical upper-hand. The question is what is our response? Do we assimilate? Do we quietly do our own thing? Do we compromise on certain things becoming a mosaic of some godless activities and some activities which are consistent with God's ways? Do we swim with the rest of the fish or are we willing to stand in the minority, possibly even alone, knowing we serve an all-knowing and all-seeing God.
The godly King Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, mistakenly forms an alliance with the godless Ahab, king of Israel, and finds himself making an important decision in this godless environment. King Ahab has surrounded himself with a sea of godless individuals who will agree with whatever he wants. We read in 2 Chronicles 18:5-7, "Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go to war against Rammoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?" So they said, "Go up, for God will deliver it into the king's hand." But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him?" So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla." The prophecies then continued with the godless prophets encouraging the king, while Micaiah warned of destruction and death if they proceeded. Micaiah spoke the truth, but we see in 18:23, that one of the other prophets struck him on the cheek. Then the king threw the true prophet in prison. The odd thing is that the godly king despite knowing the true prophet, went into battle anyway and almost lost his life.
This is our reality, decisions must be made no matter where we are. If a teacher, will you teach the new LGBTQ curriculum for fear of losing your job and rationalize that it is better to have a Christian who mostly upholds God's ways? As a physician are you going to perform abortions and participate in euthanasia, knowing that God forbids such practices? As parents, what ungodly influences will we permit to surround our children rationalizing that we can always counteract whatever lies are being put forth? We must understand we are not practicing a religion but in a relationship with the God of the universe. Just like we can't travel for business, or go to work and pretend that we are not married to our spouse or are not parents to our children, we can't go anywhere and pretend that we are not in a relationship with God. This is not a relationship which is sometimes on and sometimes off. Once we accepted Christ as our Lord and Savior our earthly bodies were transformed into temples for the holy Spirit. This residence remains no matter what we choose to do. So when compromise occurs, we are doing nothing in isolation, the Holy Spirit is right there with us. It is time for Christians in every walk of life to free themselves from the sea of godless compromise and stand firm, even alone, for the things of God.

By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another. ~John 13:35

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The Bible makes it clear that our spiritual freedom is not liberty from God’s law, but liberty in God’s law.
