A FEW THOUGHTS ON TODAYS READING...
The average adult has 5 liters of blood circulating inside our bodies. The heart pumps around 1/3 cup of blood per beat and pumps about 6000-7000 liters of blood per day. The average adult breaths around 20,000 breaths per day. In doing so, we take in 8000 to 9000 liters of air each day which is the amount needed to supply our blood with the oxygen it needs. To keep our bodies functioning and to remove waste, 180 liters of fluid are filtered by the kidney daily, which means our plasma volume (about 3 liters or 60% of our blood volume) is filtered 60 times a day. Though harder to measure, experts say that our brains process 2500-3300 thoughts per hour, and 60,000-80,000 thoughts per day. This is just a small picture of just how intricate our bodies, that we so often take for granted are. Though we share this in common, each of us have 6 feet of DNA in each cell, tightly coiled. Each adult has between 70-100 trillion cells, which means that each of us have enough DNA to be stretched between the earth and the sun 610.9 x. Though we have similarities, this is what makes each of us unique, such that each of us have our own unique fingerprint. These amazing and unique bodies are rendered even more amazing when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, as we read in 1 Corinthians 6:19, "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?" As amazing as our functioning bodies are, we who know Christ are actually temples for the living God. Peter shows us that we are just like the stones that built the temple, as we read in 1 Peter 2:4-5, "Coming to Him as a living stone, rejected by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Though David was not allowed to actually build the temple, he made all the preparations for it, for his son, Solomon. We read in 1 Chronicles 22:5, "Now David said, Solomon my son is young and inexperienced, and the house to be built for the Lord must be exceedingly magnificent, famous and glorious throughout all countries. I will now make preparation for it." So David made abundant preparations before his death." David realized how special the temple was and he spared no expense. We read in 22:14-16, "Indeed I have taken much trouble to prepare for the house of the Lord one hundred thousand talents of gold and one million talents of silver, and bronze and iron beyond measure, for it is so abundant. I have prepared timber and stone also, and you may add to them. Moreover there are workmen and stonecutters, and all types of skillful men for every kind of work. Of gold and silver and bronze and iron there is no limit. Arise and begin working, and the Lord be with you." We shouldn't miss what David did in 22:2, "So David commanded to gather the aliens who were in the land of Israel; and he appointed masons to cut hewn stones to build the house of God." Though this temple was being built for the Jewish people, who were God's chosen people, just like the aliens were used to build the temple, we, Gentiles, now the living stones are being used to build His temple now (1 Peter 2:4-5). David's instructions to Solomon are just as applicable for us, the current temples of God, in 22:19, "Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God. Therefore arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God,...".
We take for granted just how special and unique we are. Every day people forget just how carefully and beautifully God created each and every one of us. There are no accidents. God is absolutely in love with us and made us so beautiful in His eyes. If we could only get our eyes from being hyper-critical over ourselves, we could see ourselves as God's marvelous handiwork. As beautiful as God fashioned us, we become more beautiful the moment we get off of our own throne, repent and accept the Lord Jesus, and put God on the throne of our bodies, as we literally become walking and breathing temples of the Holy Spirit. May we all pause for a moment and realize this truth and use these temples as instruments to glorify His name, as we read in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
THIS WEEKS MEMORY VERSE
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, 'I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.' ~John 8:12

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
The knowledge of God and the remembrance of His all-seeing presence are the most powerful means against hypocrisy.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
